On 23rd of June 2022, an all-star cast of Māori chefs return to present a menu totally indigenous to Aotearoa, heralding in Puanga Matariki – The Māori New Year.
Held on the eve of New Zealand’s first Matariki public holiday, the purpose of this event run in conjunction with Kauta Ltd, is to showcase the rich depth of flavour and manaakitanga (hospitality) of Aotearoa as well as the skills of our leading Maori chefs.
As well as our leading culinary talent serving up a five-course menu, the evening will feature fine wines, musicians, and masters of ceremonies Miriama & Ward Kamo.
Participating chefs included: Rewi Spraggon, Grant Kitchen, Peter Gordon, Karena & Kasey Bird, Rex Morgan, Joe McLeod and more.
This Puanga Matariki event is staged annually in different locations around Aotearoa and will take place in Wellington this year.
